CIS countries report marginal decline in crude steel output

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) dropped marginally by 0.7% during the month of October year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Byelorussia increased marginally by 1.7% during September this year to 186,000 tonnes from 183,000 tonnes in October 2014.  Kazakhstan produced 258,000 tonnes of crude steel, down significantly by 22.8% when compared to 334,000 tonnes production achieved during October last year. Moldova recorded 63,000 tonnes steel output during the month, rising considerably by 216.4% over the previous year. The total crude steel production by Russia was down by 2.4% from 5.818 Million tonnes in October 2014 to 5.678 Million tonnes this October.

There was marked increase in Ukraine’s crude steel output in October. Ukraine’s total crude steel output was up by 6.4% to 2.055 Million tonnes in October 2015 when compared with the output of 1.931 Million tonnes during October last year. On the other hand, Uzbekistan’s crude steel output declined considerably by 21.2% during the month.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first ten months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
